My Journey

Hello and welcome! My name is Alex Robertson: I am a therapist serving the Boulder/Denver area.

It has been my own personal experiences with depression and meaning-of-life crises that have proven to be my most profound teachings in healing work. Navigating those challenges (with the help of many wonderful mentors, friends, guides, and my family) has given me a lived understanding of what it takes to heal.

My path to becoming a therapist has not been straight but a decidedly circuitous one. I began my professional life as a scientist—a geologist. I migrated into the wellness and healing field through massage (working as a professional massage therapist for 7 years) before starting graduate school at Naropa University to become a mental health thearpist. I now work as a counselor and massage therapist - pursuing my twin passions in helping others to find wellbeing in body and mind. My journey has given me a unique blend of scientific curiosity, profound empathy, and an unwavering belief in the human capacity for resilience and recovery. I know the courage it takes to start this work, and I do my best to bring that non-judgmental respect to every session.

Outside the office, I prioritize the things that keep me grounded and connected to life's simple joys.

I have a lifelong love for the outdoors and nature and am usually happiest when outside. I also find solace in creativity, particularly in making music and art. My creative outlets constantly remind me of the beauty, complexity, and emotional depth inherent in the human experience and reinforce my belief that we can all shape our own stories and inherently possess the power of creation. My perspective has also been broadened by living, working, and traveling internationally for several years. These years increased my appreciation for the vast scope of the human experience through exposure to a wide spectrum of diverse cultures. Finally, my life is nourished by my community. I wouldn't have gotten far in life and couldn't do this work without the people closest to me; I make quality time with my friends and family a priority. These interests and life experiences all inform the outlook I bring to our work together.

If you’re ready to share your story, reclaim your joy, and embark on a path toward deeper fulfillment, I’m excited and ready to meet you there.
